Seattle SuperSonics

History
The Seattle Supersonics basketball team is based in Seattle, Washington. The Sonics have claimed three conference championships and have division titles in 1979, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 2005.

In 1996 the Sonics were led by Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton. With the team's two star players the Sonics looked poised to take on the Chicago Bulls after beating the Utah Jazz in a 7 game series to reach the finals. However they could not overcome the dynasty built around Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen and were eliminated after 6 games.

In the 1997-98 season the Sonics would trade their team leader Shawn Kemp to the Milwaukee Bucks for Vin Baker. And in the 2003 season Gary Payton who also came to be known as the glove was also traded to the Bucks for Ray Allen. With Ray Allen leading the Sonics they would again be primed to be a Western Conference challenger.
