San Antonio Spurs

History
The San Antonio Spurs got their beginning in the year 1967 in Dallas, Texas. Back then they were named the Dallas Chaparrals and played in the ABA league. However the team would relocate to San Antonio, Texas in 1973. They joined the NBA during the merger between the NBA and ABA in 1976. The Spurs first NBA game came against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Spurs are currently located in the Southwest division of the Western Conference. They play in the AT&T Center where they were moved in the 2002-2003 season.

Some of the Spurs players most recogized and successful include George Gervin, Avery Johnson, David Robinson (The Admiral), Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker.

They have won three NBA Championships in the years 1999, 2003 and 2005.
