Miami Heat
History
Before Miami had the Miami Heat a team named the Floridians played for the South Florida based fans. The Floridians played in the ABA league. However in 1988 that would change. The Miami Heat were named to join the Southeast division of the Eastern Conference. One of their first noteworthy selections in the draft was for Syracuse star center Rony Seikaly followed by Glenn Rice in their draft the following year. The Heat's first home arena would be the Miami Arena. Since the 1999/00 season the Heat have played in their new home, just a few blocks from the Miami Arena, the American Airlines Arena.
Some of the Miami Heat's most memoriable players and coaches include Pat Riley, Glen Rice, Alonzo Mourning, Tim Hardaway, Dwayne Wade and Shaquille O'Neal.
In the more than 16 seasons that the Miami Heat have played in they have yet to win a championship or get to the finals.
