Indiana Pacers

History
The Indiana Pacers got their start in the 1967-68 season of the ABA (American Basketball Association). The Pacers became the most successful team in ABA history. The Pacers would join the NBA in the 1977-78 season after the ABA went out of business. In their first season in the NBA they went 36-46. The Pacers would make their first appearance in the NBA playoffs in 1981.

In 1987 the Pacers would draft a shooting guard by the name of Reggie Miller who would power their offense for the next decade. With the combination of Reggie Miller and Rik Smits the Pacers had their framework for a playoff team.

Larry Brown was brought aboard to coach the Pacers in the 1993-94 season. He coached the transformation of Reggie Miller into a superstar. However the Pacers would not get into the Finals under the direction of Larry Brown.

In the 1997-1998 season the Pacers signed NBA Hall of Famer Larry Bird to coach their team. In the 1999-2000 season the Pacers made it all the way to the NBA Finals for the first time before falling to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Some of the most noteable Pacer names include Reggie Miller, Rik Smits, Ron Artest, Larry Brown and Larry Bird.
