Golden State Warriors

History
The Golden State Warriors are the professional basketball team for the Oakland, California area. They are one of the three teams that plays in California. However the team did not get it's start in California. In 1946 the Warriors played home in Philadelphia. The team was also apart of the Basketball Association of America. In the 1946-47 season the Warriors won the league's championship becoming the first team to do so in the BBA. In 1949 the BBA became the NBA. The Warriors naturally migrated into the NBA at that time. This team is one of the three teams that migrated from the BBA into the NBA that are still in existence.

The Warriors were founded by Eddie Gottlieb. He also had his hand involved with other teams.

In the 1955-56 season the Warriors once again became champions defeating the Fort Wayne Pistons. Again in 1975 this time residing in Oakland the organization would win another championship. Their victory came being led by NBA legend Rick Barry. The team won unexpectedly against the heavily favored Washington Bullets. Their victory is considered to be one of the biggest upsets in NBA history.

Some of the most notable players that played for the Warriors include Wilt Chamberlain, Rick Barry, Tim Hardaway, Chris Mullins and Chris Webber.
