Denver Nuggets

History
Based in Denver Colorado the Nuggets joined the NBA in 1976. Prior to their banner year with the NBA the Nuggets were apart of the ABA league. In the 70s the Nuggets drafted Spencer Haywood. This choice came with much controversy for the organization. Haywood was one of the first players to join a professional organization before graduating college. At first the NBA did not allow him to play. He would later end up playing for the Seattle Supersonics.

Two of the best seasons for the Denver Nuggets came under the reigns of coach Larry Brown. However the success of the team would not turn into a championship.

The Nuggets hold a scoring record with the Detroit Pistons. In December of 1983 both teams combined for 370 points in a triple overtime game.

In 2003 the Nuggets drafted small forward Carmelo Anthony. With Anthony and the restructuring of their bench along with the eventual acquisition of Kenyon Martin the Nuggets look to be a premier team in the Western Conference.
