Boston Celtics

History
The Boston Celtics were formed in 1946 with the BBA and would later merge into the NBA. With the hiring of Red Auerbach the run of the Celtics would begin. Managing the team Auerbach would make several moves to complete a championship roster. Bob Cousy and then rookie Bill Russell would win the Celtics first NBA championship in 1957. The dynasty of the Celtics would last from 1957 until 1969 being built around Center Bill Russell. For those twelve years the Celtics would go twelve for twelve in winning NBA championships. The Celtics hold the record for consecutive NBA championship victories. This highly successful NBA team was not finished with it's dynasty ways in 1969.

Gaining leadership from players Dave Cowens, Paul Silas, and Jo Jo White the Celtics once again regained their dynasty muscle. They would go on to win the NBA championships in 1974 and 1976.

In 1979 the Boston Celtics selected Larry Bird in the NBA draft. This pick would serve to solidify further Boston Celtics domination. Along with Kevin McHale and Robert Parish the Celtics were once again on the top. They would win NBA Finals series in the years 1981, 1984, 1986 and conference champions in 1987.

The Celtics would find themselves in unfamiliar territory in the 1990s into the beginning of the 21st century enduring an almost constant rebuilding phase which included Antoine Walker and Paul Pierce as the centerpiece for the team. However the Boston Celtics remain the richest team in tradition.
